Tasting Notes:
The 2005 Pinot Blanc is stylish and crisp, offering bright aromatics, pure fruit flavor, and richly layered texture. Aromas of orange blossom, lemon, and lime are accented by hints of mineral and allspice. Vibrant flavors, including honey, clove, and lemon zest, culminate with a bright finish. The backbone of natural acidity gives the wine excellent balance and finesse, making it a perfect pair with many Asian and Indian dishes.
Winemaker Notes:
The hand-harvested grapes were pressed directly as whole clusters in our gentle bladder press. All of the barrels underwent batonage twice weekly to maximize complexity and texture. The wine was aged sur lie for six months in older French oak barrels in our temperature- and humidity-controlled barrel rooms.
Vintage Character:
This was another cool vintage in the Santa Maria Valley. Bud break occurred in early March. The cool spring and summer temperatures allowed the Pinot Blanc grapes to develop at much earlier Brix, preserving the natural acidity while developing the flavors and aromas.
