In 1964, Uriel Nielson planted Santa Barbara County's first commercial vineyard along the windswept Santa Maria Bench. Four decades later, our remote maritime appellation is considered one of California's finest regions for cool climate grapes. The Byron Estate is located on the site of Mr. Nielson's original vineyard.
